Honestly, it’s been a busy week and I’m glad to be home, getting chores done and enjoying my little space. I’m still not over the joy of having a room of ones own.
I had some plans before I moved in here that involved knitting sweaters and starting in on the stash busting that was interrupted by moving in May, but that all flew out the window when I got it in my head that I needed a new scarf, something thin and drapey, but with enough oomph to keep my neck warm on the way to work. Enter the Lace Ribbon Scarf. I had looked at the pattern when it was published, shrugged my shoulders and offered up a resounding “meh”. But after trolling around on Ravelry for a bit last week, I rediscovered it and decided that I needed that scarf NOW. Had to have it. No deterring me. Thank you and good night.

I took the arduous two block journey from my apartment to Yarn Garden (jealous?) and picked up some very lovely Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in a smokey grey, which was not captured very well by my camera. I’ve been knitting on this non-stop for the past week and have about 37 inches knit, unstretched. I have high hopes for it being done next week, but fingering weight yarn plus long drapey scarf doesn’t equal instant gratification, so we’ll see how my fingers hold up. I did get a few pattern repeats done today at my brother’s house when I went to do my laundry and I’ll probably do a few more tonight. Did I just admit that I’m going to spend Saturday night at home knitting? Oh, well. Any knitter worth their salt won’t see a problem with that. As it is, I’ll have to work fast, since my Christmas knitting plans have recently changed and I’ll be in a serious crunch to get done the little that I have decided to do.
