The brother and sister in law have gone to the coast for the weekend and the nephews are at their grandma’s in Vancouver, so I am having a glorious Saturday of puttering around the house alone. I haven’t puttered for quite awhile, it’s nice. I slept late, took a looong shower (so much nicer than the quick scrub I take at 4 in the morning before driving to work every day), knit a little, didn’t wrangle screaming children, and caught up on the speeches from the DNC (thanks, YouTube). Let’s hear it for puttering!
I do have another finished object to show you. The Bayerische socks have been done since the Saxon Braid Cardigan was finished, but I wanted to get some sock blockers before I photographed them. Sock blockers are no longer in the budget (I had a $200 surprise from my car insurance for changing my policy from Nevada to Oregon), and I read somewhere about making some from wire hangers, but I don’t have any wire hangers and I don’t know how big to make them anyway… so I present you unblocked Bayerische socks.

I’m rather proud of these little suckers. I learned to cable without a needle and managed not to fling them across the room when I came across three knots in the yarn that needed to be cut out. Three! In my birthday yarn! When I found the second one, I stomped out of my laundry room to show SIL and came across my 4 year old nephew. “Look, Baby D! Another knot in my yarn!” He wrinkled his nose. “Ugghh…” Ugghh, indeed. So I won’t be recommending anyone use that yarn, hence, not mentioning the name.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments on my sweater. If I didn’t reply yet, it’s because my computer was plotting against me this week and I wasn’t able to get on the internet for a few days. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to make a nice comment. I’ve gotten a few requests for the pattern, which is just a bunch of notes at this point. I don’t think I have the pattern writing skills to write it out as a traditional pattern, but I might put up a recipe of sorts, detailing what I did and how. Don’t anyone hold their breath, it did take me almost a year to get the thing done.
Have a lazy and safe weekend, y’all.
