Back at the old blog, I promised a month of finished objects, so I’ll keep that promise and start off fresh with a little amigurumi.

Sachi, my sister’s dog, was in the hall in her usual still as a statue pose, so I plopped Werner the Wiener dog next to her. Sachi wasn’t too pleased, but she’ll get over it. Who can resist a Japanese dog with Japanese inspired crafts? Come now.

Done with Sachi, I took good ole Werner out to the backyard, where our dogs love to lay in the sun on the warm flagstones. He’s quite handsome in the sun, no? More angles, you request? But of course…

What’s the use of having little dogs running around the house if you can’t steal their beds? None, I say.

Werner is from Amigurumi! by Elisabeth Doherty. This is the third project I’ve made from this book and I highly recommend it. Very cute patterns, not too strenuous, easy to customize and easy instructions. I have found that I like crocheting the little parts of the ami, but hate sewing them all together. I’ve had a Mr. Funky sitting in a basket for three months now, languishing in bits, because I can’t bring myself to sew it together. By the end of this month, I’ve commit to getting it done. But not now. Only one ami sewing at a time. My nerves can’t take it.

I used regular Red Heart acrylic for the whole thing and a size D and C crochet hook. The eyes I found at Michael’s and that’s about it. I just followed the directions on this one, except I changed the nose color from pink to black. Werner reminds me of the wiener dog my grandma had when I was little, and Missy had a black nose, not a pink one. And that’s about it.
